The Ramsey County Attorney’s Office charged a 22-year-old St. Paul man Monday with cruelty to an animal after he threw his girlfriend’s pit bull from a second-story apartment balcony in November.
According to officials, Quincy Lee Morrow threw the five-month-old dog from an apartment located in the 1700 block of Adolphus Street in Maplewood on Nov. 28.
The dog suffered multiple fractures from the four-foot drop and had to euthanized.
Morrow’s girlfriend told police they had gotten into a fight. Morrow smashed the windows of her car before throwing the dog off the balcony.
According to the criminal complaint, Morrow said he had put the dog into a kennel on the balcony because the animal had become aggressive. The dog allegedly bit Morrow, and he then threw his hands in the air, and the 27-pound dog happened to have gone flying over the railing.
If convicted, Morrow faces two years in prison, a $5,000 fine, or both.
