Dog euthanized after death of Chicago boy

Where were this child's parents when this happened?!

CHICAGO - Authorities say a Rottweiler that fatally mauled a Southwest Side boy has been euthanized, along with two other dogs found at the same address.

A staff worker at Chicago's Animal Care and Control said Monday morning that the three dogs had all been put to death.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has identified the boy attacked by the dogs on Sunday as 4-year-old Alex Angulo. The boy was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 4:15 p.m.

There was more than one dog at the scene when police arrived, though it was unclear how many animals were involved in the attack, said Chicago Police Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.

Mark Rosenthal, the operations manager at the Chicago Commission on Animal Care and Control, said the agency took two Rottweilers, a male and female, from the scene. Later a female poodle believed to also live in the same house was brought to the animal control facility.
