Dog Fighting Ring Includes Mid-Missouri Man

ELDON - Authorities raided the home of an Eldon man after a grand jury indicited him as part of a five-state dog fighting ring.

Jack Ruppel of Eldon was named in the federal indictment. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and United States Humane Society were at the Eldon home, according to neighbors. Neighbors say the authorities were at the home until early afternoon removing dogs from the property. Some neighbors said they had no idea the dogs from the home were involved in dog fighting. Raids were also carried out in Illinois, Iowa, Texas and Oklahoma as a result of a year-long investigation. The Humane Society of Missouri is calling this the largest dog fighting raid in U.S. history. There were four other Missouri men named in the federal indictment.
